FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT:Jan Peters, Executive Director TOPS JOINS BFNC IN FUNDING SUMMER DAY CAMP$5,000 given in support of program's activitiesThe Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers announced that is has received funding of $5,000 from Tops Friendly Markets Foundation, in support of its 2003 summer day camp program. BFNC was one of only 12 organizations selected to receive a grant this year, and was among six honorees from the Buffalo area. "Summer Fun Days" is an educationally supportive day camp that serves over 350 children annually, primarily from low-income households. The camp aims to build healthy bodies and minds through academic, physical and recreational activities. Some of the highlights of each summer include: workshops in computers, art instruction, African history and dance, music, nature/wildlife studies, leadership development and healthy lifestyles. The funding from Tops Friendly Markets Foundation will help BFNC to provide enrichment workshops and field trips for children enrolled in the camp. BFNC, Inc. has served Buffalo and Erie County since 1893. The agency specializes in empowering the urban poor and persons with severe mental health challenges.
