Chandra Redfern and Daysi Ball have an uplifting conversation about how “Exhale” and the new respite program, “The Gathering Place” can offer a unique opportunity for caregivers and their loved ones to attend a 4-hour session of planned activities, with a meal and support networking. The program is designed to provide fun and uplifting activities for the care recipient while the caregiver participates in a separate program that will provide them with a break, build their support network, and empower them with
additional tools for caregiving.
To support caregivers, 5 community-based organizations in WNY have come together to provide support for caregivers and their loved ones. Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, Compeer, Schiller Park Senior Center, Erie County Department of Senior Services, and Hearts & Hands are collaborating for the regional “Exhale” Initiative to increase access to services for caregivers.

The BFNC has been focused on filling access to fresh food for several years by collaborating with community organizations to provide healthy food choices for the communities they serve and is now creating a community garden at the Fruit Belt Neighborhood House. We will discuss today, work that has been ongoing in Buffalo to provide access to healthy food.
