Reports to: Outreach and Engagement Coordinator

Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, a strong team player and people-oriented Outreach and Engagement Specialist (O&E Specialist) will coordinate and implement strategic outreach and community engagement efforts to increase awareness of available supports to individuals residing in target areas of East Buffalo. The candidate must have the ability to build and maintain rapport with community members, community planning groups, and stakeholders.
Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach activities to promote services and recruit program participants.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local service agencies.
  • Implement outreach and engagement activities targeting individuals who reside in the target areas.
  • Conduct door to door outreach activity on a weekly basis as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Complete assessments of needs for engaged individuals.
  • Complete referrals to services base on assessment of needs individuals
  • Conduct client follow-up activities to ensure of referred individuals.
  • Completes weekly outreach reports, tracking outreach attempts, engagements, and referrals.
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of the agency and the community at related collaborations, community planning groups, social organizations, conferences, and other events as assigned.
  • Other projects as assigned to meet program and agency mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensures full compliance with BFNC’s Corporate Compliance Program, Standards of Business Conduct, applicable contracts, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as these apply to individual job duties, the department, and the organization.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of two years’ experience in Human Services or related field, plus two (2) years paid experience working with individuals with handicapping disabilities.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license with evidence of good driving record
  • Use of reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of employees and excellent oral-written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills within a process oriented, team environment
  • Excellent coaching, employee development and training skills
  • Must exhibit a passion for BFNC’s vision, mission and values and act as a role model
  • Intimate knowledge and awareness of East Buffalo Neighborhoods.
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, consistent with agency’s commitment to Racial Justice and Social Equity.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the Social Determinants of Health
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends
