Our Commitment to Inclusion, Equity and Community Healing

As an agency that has served the social service needs of this region for over 125 years, our staff feels the pain and continues to serve and seek ways to assist those in most need of assistance.

To understand and to obtain a glimpse of hope during the pain our city and nation is experiencing it may be good to revisit the inspiring words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The fact that his words resonate strongly today is an indication that we can look to history to get an understanding of the generational pain that has led to protest.

His words inspire, resonate, and teach today…

“A riot is the language of the unheard.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.”

In honor of Dr. King’s legacy, we hope that all embrace the importance of a nonviolent protest.

The BFNC Executive team feels the pain and believe we can do our part by continuing to embrace our mission to provide an open door to all people and communities – helping them navigate a path from where they are to where they want to be.

The Care and Love of others will help heal our community.

We remain committed.
