What is the VITA Program?
Annually, BFNC offers FREE Tax Preparation services for community participants during the TAX SEASON. The Tax Preparers are trained VITA volunteers who assist community participants.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS-sponsored program that works with non-profit organizations to provide free basic income tax return preparation.
IRS-certified volunteers provide free tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Read more below about VITA eligibility criteria.
Are You Eligible for VITA?
Please check the BFNC website annually to see if you are eligible to receive free tax preparation services.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to:
- People who generally make $64,000 or less
- People with disabilities
- Senior adults
- Limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance
